Love puzzle games? Love Mario? Then you must have played Mario’s Picross on your Game Boy. The game was developed by two different studios, Jupiter and Ape and was published by Nintendo.
The game was based on compilations of nonogram logic puzzles. The game performed exceptionally in Japan which sprouted two more sequels, Mario Super Picross and Picross 2. As for English speaking regions, the game didn’t do so well. it received both, positive and negative reviews, where users cited its addictive nature and length as its positive elements and the absence of the traditional Mario elements as its cons.
The last version of the game was released for Nintendo 3DS by the title Picross 3D which was available through Nintendo Virtual Console. It was a simple yet complex game that required chiseling block in a grid, which could be either 5×5, 10×10, or 15×15 given the difficulty. The grids were chiseled away to reveal an image. As simple as it may sound, the game was definitely difficult to play and required focus and logical thinking instead of just bashing buttons.
The game featured 256 puzzles which were separated into four different categories as per their difficulty. All in all, if you like solving numbers, this one will be a fun one for you.
